MCing at Money2020
sooo I totally underestimated the energy needed to MC a stage to a “fiat audience” (ie. not my comfort zone). Digesting the talks on the spot, welcoming guests and adding a pinch of crypto every 25 min for two days, on two stages.. Well it was a challenge but I loved it!
My short take: The current fiat world wants to add crypto services (it ain't for criminals anymore and they want a piece of cake) however the tide is shifting and people are more aware, and want to have everything that Web3 has to offer, self custody, ownership and privacy: true control over one's personal, financial data and information. Which obviously clashes with their model (duh!) On the horizon, I see good enough marketing, convenience and regulations to attract the next wave of customers to crypto regulated services.
Maybe the last (necessary) step before we take control back over money? Or will this kill the ethos of cryptocurrencies?
Having a little chat with Vice
Attending an NFT conference, trying my best to learn and finally “get it”… However, my skepticism, or my swissness (the non flaunting part) was captured on the spot. Why reintroduce scarcity in an infinite digital world, let’s aim for better.
Between the stalls in the other room I strike up a conversation with Eléonore Blanc. She has nothing to do with the digital scarcity, which people like Erdem find so promising. “People want scarcity and exclusivity, which is why all kinds of boundaries are now emerging in the digital world. It shouldn't, that goes against the ethos of crypto. Cryptocurrencies are limitless, no matter who you are or where you live.”
She doesn't flaunt all kinds of expensive avatars or NFT art when she's in the metaverse. “That would be like showing everyone who follows you on Instagram, but then you paid for it.”
For Blanc, crypto is not about speculating and making a lot of money, she claims. “That's such a boring and limited conception of it. You have to use it.” She is therefore regularly paid in crypto for her courses, and she does not mind that the prices have now collapsed enormously, despite the evaporation of her money. "I go with the peaks and the troughs: if things go well I spend a lot of money and if things go badly I don't."
She thinks big crashes like this are only good. "Then it is survival of the fittest , and only the good companies and cryptocurrencies remain. read the full article here
Which brings me back full circle to some very awaited footage of ETHDay such as this NFT debate or Tim Beiko’s presentation about the meeeeerge
on that topic we’re getting closer every day 🐼
Shall we open a merch shop? Welcoming some feedback 👀

“Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swamps of the not-quite, the not-yet, and the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists.. it is real.. it is possible.. it's yours.”
