Roger Ver becomes a CryptoCanal advisor, DashCon and Cypherpunk Week
In our previous newsletter, you loved the rebrand from ETHDam to Common S3nse and the fact that we had found a new home at de Hallen Studio! So much so, that we are going bigger, stronger and bolder! but we had to change the dates to accommodate all our new frens
DashCon, Common S3nse & Shipyard NL unite for the 1st Cypherpunk Week
Introducing Cypherpunk Week Amsterdam (June 8-14, 2026) a week of independent events, workshops and hacker houses dedicated to the cypherpunk values. Bringing together builders, activists, and privacy advocates to champion the cypherpunk values of privacy, freedom, open-source tech, and cryptographic empowerment, all with a purrsistent commitment to digital liberty.
ShipyardNL will be readying builders with a week of Solana workshops! Rallying the builder troops until the final commit line!
On Thursday the 11th of June, we will host DashCon, a one day conference fully dedicated to Dash, uniting developers, masternode operators and long-time community members to exchange insights and promote private and secure digital payments. What will you be organizing during Cypherpunk Week?
🔉This is our call to unite all privacy and security builders for the 1st Cypherpunk Week, from the 8th to 14th of June 2026 in the heart of Amsterdam. You were just brainstorming where or when to organise the next Security Summit? Slide in our DMs.
What is a Cypherpunk you may ask? 🐈⬛
Focus on Privacy
We believe privacy is a fundamental human right and seek to protect it through technology rather than relying solely on government or legal systems (Orwellian times much, Tornado Cash or the UK’s encroachment on freedom of speech… we gotta do better)
Cryptography as a Tool
We use encryption, anonymous networks, digital cash, and other tech to secure communications and transactions.
Political Philosophy
Often aligned with libertarian or anti-surveillance ideals, emphasizing individual sovereignty and minimizing central control. ✊
Influence on Digital Currency
Cypherpunks laid the intellectual groundwork for cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Dash by promoting decentralized, trustless systems aaaaand we still have A LOT of work to do on the front of actually using crypto as p2p electronic cash!
The Manifesto
Eric Hughes’ 1993 A Cypherpunk’s Manifesto is a foundational text, famously stating: “Privacy is necessary for an open society in the electronic age.”
“Therefore, privacy in an open society requires anonymous transaction
systems. Until now, cash has been the primary such system. An
anonymous transaction system is not a secret transaction system. An
anonymous system empowers individuals to reveal their identity when
desired and only when desired; this is the essence of privacy.” Eric Hughes, 9 March 1993Proud to welcome Roger Ver, aka Bitcoin Jesus as our Advisor
Yes, let me have the honor, for those who don’t know him (mom, dad he’s a big deal, I’ll share more about him over the xmas) to introduce Roger Ver, also known as Bitcoin Jesus.
He discovered Bitcoin in 2011 (that’s very very early) when it was under $1 and quickly recognized its potential. Roger went on to become the earliest major investor in Bitcoin startups, funding companies such as Blockchain.com, BitPay, Ripple, Kraken, Purse.io, and Bitcoin.com. His early support helped catalyze an industry that now serves tens of millions worldwide.
He recently co-wrote a book to share more about those early days and the history. As Bitcoin was initially hailed as a liberating technology and a free-market alternative to state-controlled money. However, he witnessed how this promise was broken when a small group of insiders took over the project and fundamentally altered its design.
In “Hijacking Bitcoin,” Roger reveals the true history of Bitcoin, uncovering years of censorship, social media manipulation, and tight information control. This book debunks popular myths about Bitcoin’s decentralization and original design, exposing the corruption and centralization that have plagued the cryptocurrency. With a compelling narrative of passion and betrayal, Ver sets the historical record straight in this essential read for anyone interested in the real story of Bitcoin.”
much love from Solana Breakpoint, DM me if you are around and wanna chat about Cypherpunk Week & Common S3nse 😘
